ミカヅキBIGWAVE Concert in China Review + other releases

Musics the Hang Up Releases

I saw Mikazuki BIGWAVE (ミカヅキBIGWAVE ) last night and he’s my little review of the show in Shenzhen, China. Also happens to be my first vaporwave/future funk show.

Digital Releases

CONTEMPO by Diskette Park

The newest album by Diskette Park and damn does it feel classy. First off, lets take a moment to appreciate how well crafted that album art is. Simple, stylish and pure 80s by nature. Well done on that. After listeninng to the album the follow tracks really stood out to me; Twin Cinema, Sales, Casual, Lost and so much more. With 22 tracks, you’re bound to find a hit. If i had to describe the album it feels like an empty cruise dining hall after the party is over and all that\’s left are those to clean up.

The Dark Side Of Fame by Decek

26 tracks of various plunderphonincs and vaporwave music. The track 1989 is my favorite on the list. I guess this explains the album concept: “Because fame isn’t all that’s cracked up to be. …..The Dark Side of Fame.”

HATCH / BLACK GOO by Switch Major

I’m new to Switch Major’s music, found it through twitter. This new EP is my first introducton which consists of two songs. First, HATCH, is a beating heart beat mixed with the occational synth. Which get progressively more aware and a live. Synth sounds and all. The second song Black Goo, which is half as short, is much more musical in nature. The bass line is pretty good. He’s a new artist to me so figured give this album a full listen to support him. Out nonw digitally.

SOUND COLLAGE 1 by dropboxed

New single by dropboxed. and as with all 7FORM releases, I know it’s going to be a trip. This is a collage of sounds as the title of the track explains clearly. With various vocal clips, and a growing ambient back sound. Weird drum mixtures and is the guy doing my mom while I turn on my PS2? Weird stuff.

ᖶᗩᕵᘿ by Sᒪᓍᘺ

How about the font on this release. Another out by 7FORM. pad or ᕵᗩᕲ is experimental. Using some 808 sounds, a sharp synth and drums that dance around from left to right in your ears. Sᖶᗩᖇ (StAR or SLAR?) is dreamy and short. It’s a digital experimental album, Sᒪᓍᘺ sounds like he’s having fun making music and I enjoyed it too.
