Sound Collage does not equal signalwave+ other releases

Today we have: Final F A N T A S Y W A V E has a couple more cassette / VHS bundles added to their bandcamp. A distinguished sound collage digital release. An album that feel more like watching TV in the background than music. Did I miss a release? Let me know on twitter or instagram

Last weekend I was in Tokyo for a Future funk Show called “Pitch Shifter”. The only full set I had was this one but I did upload a mini doc of everyones set which can be found here. Artists included Sparkly Night, クリスタルKITSUNE and a bunch of the artists in the Japanese scene. Gotta check it out.

Physical Releases

ノスタルジアリゾート by Nostalgia Resort (Limited Edition Cassette)

Nostalgia Resort has captured the beautiful scenery of chillwave and place to relax. I love this description of the album: “Nostalgia Resort’s album hurls the listener into a forgotten jungle where the sense of time and place fades away. In the middle of the jungle, there is a mysterious oasis that seems endless and in its glistening water you can lose yourself completely. The unknown forces of the oasis redefine the basics of existence.”

﹝final﹞F A N T A S Y W A V E﹝vii﹞Cassette/VHS Bundle + Digital Download

One of my favorite vapor themed albums is back out on a Cassette / VHS Bundle. For 21$ you’ll get both the album and it’s visual experience. Whcih if you’re unaware of the visual experienne, you can watch it now on youtube.

Digital Releases

What I originally thought was going to be signalwave is really a sound collage album. Something that’s been a debate for a while which is the difference between the two genres. I think this album makes it very clear what a sound collage album sounds like. I’m impressed with the consistent mixing between tracks and different clips. So it wasn’t like this was just thrown together.

Too Much Fun by Yoko Momo

A new digital release from Yoko Momo. This time a very peaceful soundscape mixed with vaporwave. Submerge Me is a surreal experience. The vocals on that track are pefect balanced with the atmospheric guitar driven melody. Some times even haunting, this album does set a scene of calm experiences and it’s beautiful for that.

Daily Television Program // DMT-757 by Tape Dispenser

Such a cool album in the fact that the audio samples give a little taste of (British at times) TV at a certain period of time. Some tracks introduce the idea of CDs. Some talk about the weather, Sports and more. It’s really does feel like a wrap to a past once lived.

So what did you guys think of today’s releases? Find anything cool or buy a cassette? Come share it with us on the discord and hang out with other vaporwave fans!
