TUPPERWAVE, BUSINESS CASUAL, 1969年, Channel Select release cassette + other news
Welcome to the future funk and vaporwave news of May 18th, 2019. Plenty of cassettes to add to your collection + digitals to fill your ears with on this wonderful Saturday.
Originally released in April, another repress for the limited edition of this 1969年 album. I’m going to be interview him next week and will talk about this release for sure.
A slow side of funk, vapor funk? First time listening to a channel select album, I’m digging it. Out on Business Casual.
Talked about this album a while back interesting to see it get another cassette release. The white on black actually looks cool. The album art make the music seem scarier than it is. Some ambient / experimental.
Super Shades by Purple Palm (First Edition Cassette)
Another new artist on my radar. “PREPARE YOUR BODY FOR IMPENDING SUMMER TIME”. Slow vapor funk, I liked the song Weeki Wachee (feat. 良い乗り物 through the city)
Virtual Essentials, Vol. II by Various Artists
Virtual Soundsystem Records released their second Virtual Essentials album. A mix of a bunch of different sounds, from alternative, ambient, breakcore, chillwave and more.
a warm place by R E Z N O R W A V E
late night lofi album on B O G U S // COLLECTIVE. More experimental than my taste but I thought it was tagged “post-internet”. When is that happening?
“Practical Dreamers” – TRAM TRAX Remixes
New singl by VAPOR GHOUL. The singles so far have been really experimental and atmospheric. I guess we’ll see what else comes out in the following releases.
Pure Black Midnight by Sunset Inc.
I really liked the track Wake Up, Sunset Inc. which is crazy because before I even saw the title I was thinking this is a great song to make eggs and sit on the porch looking out at the birds too. I actually ended up listening to the whole album, I want this on cassette.
I found this in another discord, it’s a cute little soundtrack for the manga, Yotsuba. I never actually read it before but the music is oh so ever slice of life, so maybe I should. Slice of Life is my favorite genre in the manga / anime world.
If it’s for kids, I might pick up a Chinese copy so I can learn more of the language from it as I have with Initial D, but damn they talk to much about cars (and parts) that it’s difficult to pick up the characters.
